Creamistry – An Awesome Ice Cream Experience
My husband, kids and I have tried plenty of ice cream, gelato and frozen yogurt places but Creamistry ice cream is now among my top three favorites. As you walk into the Creamistry in San Marcos, you can’t help but notice the huge liquid nitrogen containers and feel the chill. Not only is the ice cream amazing but so is the experience because I felt like was being entertained.
This is down the street from Landon’s Gourmet Kitchen which I’ve also reviewed. If you are staying by Legoland you’ll find it to be about 15 min away. From the coast, get onto Palomar Airport Road and keep driving a few miles after it turns into San Marcos Blvd. It is also close to the San Marcos Blvd exit from the 78 freeway.
Have you ever had ice cream made with liquid nitrogen and found it to be a bit grainy in texture? Well, this is not the least bit grainy. It is the smoothest ice cream I’ve ever eaten. What delighted me most is that I could have a non-dairy option – the coconut ice cream. Don’t let the name fool you, it won’t taste like coconut.
The kids, hubby and I were excited just standing in line and watching the liquid nitrogen fog. What a show and it makes for a great photo.
How It Works
Step 1 – Size and Base
Step 1 is to pick the size of your ice cream. You can choose from regular, large or NitroShake but let me warn you that the regular size is pretty large and it can be a bit pricey anyway. If you get a large, you’ll probably want to share it with someone.
Next you’ll pick your base which can be ones made of regular milk, organic milk, sorbet or coconut. I took the coconut since I can sometimes feel a bit bloated and unhappy after too much lactose.
Step 2 – Flavor
Step 2 according to the menu is to pick your flavor. There are so many to choose from I can’t list them all so here is a screen shot of their website.
Step 3 – Toppings
Step 3 is to choose your toppings and upgrades. I’ve just had to show you the Creamistry website because there are too many to type out!
I wish I had taken a photo of mine. Darn, I’ll just have to go back there for “Research and photos”!
With so many flavors and toppings to choose from, I was really caught off guard. I should have studied the menu before I went but I had no idea this place was so over the top. My quick choice was just to add brownie and that was amazing.
Like I mentioned above, this place is on the expensive side but it was totally worth it for the fun, entertainment and experience. To save some money, share one, buy the Groupon or go to the website and sign up for the newsletter to get a 10% off coupon.
One last note: I chose Creamistry because my family and I loved it. We did not get anything for highlighting them and they don’t even know that I’m doing a review. As of now I don’t make any money on this podcast and/or blog. I just to this as a hobby because I love it. I may add affiliate links in the future to Groupon and other places. If I do I will let you know.
