Vista Farmer’s Market

Blog, Kid Friendly, Podcast, Vista
The Vista Farmer's Market is San Diego's longest running Farmer's Market. It started over 30 years ago. If you are in the north county, this is also one of the largest and best markets which is open nearly every Saturday from 8am -1pm Eat breakfast or lunch here and have your choice of 9-12 hot food vendors selling everything from crepes, belgium waffles, tacos to tamales, sausages, Rotisserie chicken, Acai bowls and Food from Africa. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few of them as well. If you are looking for fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, you'll find that here too. The market goes well beyond that with so many small vendors who make everything from gluten free bread to pesto to pasta to desert and…

Landon’s Gourmet Kitchen

Landon’s Gourmet Kitchen

Blog, Kid Friendly, San Marcos
Landon's Farm-to-Table Food and Childcare I wish Landon's Gourmet Kitchen had been in business when my 3 kids were small. It is a brilliant idea. In a nutshell, the idea is that it is a farm-to-table restaurant with incredible food and in another room they provide childcare for a fee so that you can enjoy your night out without the stress of finding a babysitter. The kids are happy, safe and having fun and you are seconds away from them if you need to see them. By the way, if you do not have kids or yours are grown, don't let the idea of them having childcare on the premise put you off. This is a beautiful place that is comfortable to hang around in and the food was magnificent. More…

At Butterfly Farms, whether you are 2 years old or 102 years old watching the butterflies flitter and flutter  simply brings you joy. Creamistry (Ice Cream in San Marcos)

Creamistry (Ice Cream in San Marcos)

Blog, Kid Friendly, San Marcos
Creamistry - An Awesome Ice Cream Experience My husband, kids and I have tried plenty of ice cream, gelato and frozen yogurt places but Creamistry ice cream is now among my top three favorites. As you walk into the Creamistry in San Marcos, you can't help but notice the huge liquid nitrogen containers and feel the chill. Not only is the ice cream amazing but so is the experience because I felt like was being entertained. This is down the street from Landon's Gourmet Kitchen which I've also reviewed. If you are staying by Legoland you'll find it to be about 15 min away. From the coast, get onto Palomar Airport Road and keep driving a few miles after it turns into San Marcos Blvd. It is also close to…

Meditation Garden in Encinitas

Meditation Garden in Encinitas

Blog, Encinitas
Meditation Garden in Encinitas I love the Meditation Garden! I'll admit, the first time I visited this place, I was a bit shy about going in since I had to go through the gate of The Self-Realization Fellowship Encinitas Temple to get to the gardens. I wasn't a member of that temple and I wasn't really sure what to expect. What I discovered is that it is open to the public so no matter what your religious or spiritual belief, you are welcome to walk through the gardens. What to Expect The gardens go to the edge of the cliff overlooking the beach and ocean below so you'll get a spectacular view as shown in my photo below. If you come during the winter, you can probably make it for sunset…
